Property Description
Historic Simkins/Tompkins Hous A Legacy Reimagined Step into South Carolina history with this stunning 14 room, three story estate, originally built by Revolutionary War patriot and a founder of Edgefield, Col. Arthur Simkins, in the late 1700's. Reconstructed in the 1830's using original heart of pine timbers and hand crafted details. -- including a carved archway and hand forged nails -- this home blends timeless craftsmanship with modern comfort. Set on a serine tract of almost 30 acres along Meeting Street Road overlooking Turkey Creek, the property features wide porches, soaring halls, a grand staircase, and architectural elements originally from other iconic Edgefield homes. Once the center piece of Cedar Fields Plantation and later a gathering place for the Edgefield Light Dragoons, its walls echo with stories of early American independence, Southern tradition and generations of family life. Now thoughtfully updated with a new roof, a freshly hand painted exterior and a whole house generator, this historic treasure awaits its next chapter. Own a piece of Edgefield soul. -- where heritage meets home.
